DESK Issues Important Order for All Private Schools in Kashmir
Srinagar, Dec 26: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has granted permission to recognised private schools across the Kashmir division to conduct remedial classes during the ongoing winter vacation.
According to an official order, remedial teaching can be conducted only between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm. The permission has been issued after the directorate received multiple requests from heads of private educational institutions seeking approval to help students cope with academic gaps.
The Directorate noted that schools cited limited working days in the academic calendar due to prolonged vacations, harsh climatic conditions, administrative closures, and other unavoidable disruptions. In view of these constraints, schools expressed the need to provide additional academic support to students.
DSEK has made it clear that remedial and supplementary classes must be purely voluntary and conducted only with prior consent of parents. The order also strictly states that no extra fee shall be charged from students for attending these classes.
Additionally, the Directorate has directed schools to ensure proper heating arrangements in classrooms to safeguard students from extreme cold during winter.
The move, officials said, is aimed at helping students academically without compromising their safety or placing any financial burden on parents.
